Job Summary:
The Team:
The Regional Communications and Engagement Section is a dynamic and growing team focused on building strong connections between the fire management program and local and First Nations governments. The team consists of four staff members: a Community Engagement Specialist who leads the team, a full-time Communications Specialist, and two seasonal Communications Assistants. As part of a newer, emerging section, this team works closely with the Coastal Fire Centre Leadership Team and regional managers, supporting fire prevention, mitigation, preparedness and response by fostering meaningful relationships with local and First Nations governments. The work you'll do here is impactful, ensuring clear communication and engagement while helping to strengthen partnerships in fire management across the region.
The Role:
As the Community Engagement Specialist, you will work closely with both internal teams and external partners to develop and strengthen relationships with local and First Nations governments, helping to create a strategic approach to community engagement. Your efforts will directly support fire prevention, mitigation, and response, while also contributing to the development of a regional strategy. Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement. Flexible work options may not be available during emergency operations response periods.
