F&B Bartender

Location: Downtown Kingston

Marriott Kingston Hotel is looking for a dynamic and talented Full-time Bartender to join our team. If you have a passion for mixing drinks, creating memorable guest experiences, and working in a fast-paced environment, we want you to be part of our hospitality family!

As a Bartender, you will be responsible for preparing beverages and serving food promptly and courteously while maintaining high standards of quality and consistency. Your skills in up-selling, attention to detail, and dedication to guest satisfaction will contribute to a vibrant and enjoyable bar atmosphere.

• Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner as they approach the bar.
• Promote house drinks and utilize up-selling skills to maximize revenue.
• Prepare beverages based on guest requests, following established pouring standards and drink recipes.
• Coordinate food service with restaurants for bar/lounge guests, if applicable.
• Monitor guest behavior and alcohol consumption, ensuring service is ceased when necessary.
• Notify management of incidents involving excessive alcohol consumption or impaired conditions.
• Alert management to any service or safety issues, and handle service recovery to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Set up the bar with liquor, mixers, ice, garnishes, glassware, and other necessary supplies.
• Perform pre-and post-shift side-work, including replenishing ice, preparing garnishments, and stocking snacks.
• Keep track of inventory and ensure liquor is securely stored.
• Count and secure the bartender’s bank, handling cash and credit payments, and balancing the cash drawer at the end of the shift.
• Inspect the bar for cleanliness and ensure all equipment and machinery are operational.
• Sweep and mop the bar floor after the shift, and clean all surfaces, chairs, tables, and equipment.
• Promote teamwork through communication with other departments to ensure smooth service.
• Follow all company and brand standards while performing other duties as assigned.

• Basic reading, writing, and math skills required.
• Knowledge of liquor brands, beer, wine, champagne, non-alcoholic beverages, and preparation methods.
• Formal bartending training preferred.
• Must meet provincial legal age requirements for alcohol service.
• Fluent in English, with excellent communication skills for guest interaction.
• Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds, including barware and supplies.
• Ability to remain stationary for extended periods and move about the bar and lounge area.
• Alcohol awareness certification or valid food handler card as required by local regulations.
• Strong math skills for handling cash and credit payments.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
