Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railway (CPKC) is a transcontinental railway in Canada, the United States, and Mexico with direct links to major ports on the west and east coasts, providing North American customers a competitive rail service with access to key markets in every corner of the globe. CPKC is growing with its customers, offering a suite of freight transportation services, logistics solutions, and supply chain expertise. This position is located at the Winnipeg Detachment.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The CPKC Police Service delivers police services to the CPKC network. Duties include emergency response, special events policing, risk reduction operations, investigation and enforcement of criminal acts, crime prevention, and public safety programs.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Ensure public safety through enforcement, education, and crime prevention.
2. Enforce laws at all levels (Federal, Provincial, municipal).
3. Conduct criminal and collision investigations.
4. Respond to emergencies and service calls.
5. Protect railway assets, operations, and personnel.
6. Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies.
7. Stay informed on relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
8. Plan, manage, and prioritize workload; conduct patrols.
9. Be prepared for travel, on-call duties, and callouts (with compensation).
10. Possess strong communication skills.
11. Prepare reports, prosecution files, and provide court testimony.
12. Manage and escort prisoners.
13. Work shifts, including weekends and holidays.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must have completed basic police recruit training and be a FIRST-class police constable in good standing with a recognized Canadian police service.
2. Must have experience enforcing the Criminal Code of Canada and knowledge of the Canadian Criminal Justice System and Provincial Statutes.
3. Community involvement and basic computer skills are assets.
4. Must pass a fitness test (PARE, POPAT, or PREP) and possess a valid driver’s license.
5. Must be qualified in First Aid, CPR, and AED, and meet CPKC Police Firearms and Use of Force Standards.
6. Must pass psychological and polygraph exams, and have no criminal record or McNeil decisions on file.
