The Sequel - Restaurant and Kitchen is excited to announce its grand opening this Spring in the vibrant neighborhood of Coal Harbour Downtown. Nestled among breathtaking tourist attractions, shopping destinations, and a bustling community of offices and condos, our restaurant is set to become a culinary gem in the area.

As the sister restaurant to the highly successful The Story Cafe in Richmond, The Sequel brings the same commitment to high-quality food and exceptional service in a fast-paced, casual fine dining atmosphere. We are seeking an experienced, motivated individual with a passion for hospitality and a collaborative spirit to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages based on customer preferences and established recipes.
  2. Craft signature cocktails and seasonal menu items, showcasing creativity, skill, and attention to detail.
  3. Provide exceptional customer service, building relationships with regular patrons and engaging with first-time guests.
  4. Manage a fast-paced bar environment, ensuring drinks are prepared quickly and accurately without sacrificing quality.
  5. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including proper storage of liquor, garnishes, glassware, and tools.
  6. Stay informed about current industry trends, new cocktail techniques, and the latest bar technologies.
  7. Ensure all liquor laws and safety regulations are adhered to, including monitoring guest alcohol consumption and serving responsibly.
  8. Assist in inventory control, ordering, and rotating supplies.
  9. Keep the bar stocked, clean, and organized throughout shifts.
  10. Collaborate with team members (barbacks, servers, management) to ensure smooth operations.
  11. Assist in training new bartenders and bar staff as needed.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in bartending or mixology, preferably in a high-volume or upscale bar/restaurant.
  2. Extensive knowledge of classic cocktails, modern mixology techniques, and craft cocktail trends.
  3. Strong proficiency with bar tools and equipment, including shakers, strainers, muddler, and jiggers.
  4. Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to engage guests and provide personalized recommendations.
  5. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
  6. Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling procedures.
  7. Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid bartender certification or TIPS certification (or be willing to obtain).
  8. Excellent communication skills—both with guests and team members.
  9. Strong attention to detail, especially when crafting cocktails and managing inventory.
  10. A passion for creativity and innovation in drink-making.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with craft cocktails, seasonal menus, or unique drink techniques (e.g., barrel-aging, infusion, carbonated drinks).
  2. Knowledge of wine pairings and beer styles.
  3. Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced bar setting.
