EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE & CLINICAL LEARNING

Reporting to the Vice President, Professional Practice, Chief Nursing & Allied Health Executive, the Executive Director provides senior leadership and direction to the Professional Practice Chief Nursing Allied Health Officer and Clinical Learning across the organization inclusive of all aspects of operations and outcomes within the portfolio. This position integrates Professional Practice standards and accountabilities, evolving education models, and quality care. The ED leads and represents the portfolio in providing executive level contribution to strategic and operational planning for the organization and establishes and maintains a recognized strategic leadership knowledge for the portfolio. The ED supports the VP through regular participation at various internal and external leadership and governance committees related to the portfolio, providing expert advice and input to advance the goals of Northern Health. Subject to the guidance of general policies, strategic framework and broad directives from executive, the ED maintains significant autonomy, latitude for action and decision-making authority within the portfolio and is accountable for the results. The ED establishes and maintains a future-focus for the portfolio, responsible for advancing excellence, innovation and change in clinical professional development and inter-professional service delivery models among and between various clinical areas.

Starting salary will be approximately from $155,327 to $194,159 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualifications
• A combination of education, training and experience equivalent to completion of a Master’s degree in Nursing or Allied Health, supplemented with an additional Master’s degree in a relevant leadership field such as Health Administration or Public Administration, plus ten (10) years of progressive clinical leadership experience in a large, complex public sector environment;
• Experience in leading professional practice, clinical learning, program management, change management, and strategic initiative development, implementation, evaluation, and systems planning, in a large health organization. Demonstrated experience with research processes and methodologies, as well as the implementation and evaluation of complex systems.
• For regulated health care professional candidates current full practicing registration with the applicable provincial College or Association is required.

• Demonstrated ability to develop and write proposals, projects and research documents. Proficiency in the use of personal computers and related technology.
• Demonstrated ability to champion innovation and creativity.
• Ability to establish partnerships within the region and with external partners and academic institutions.
• Demonstrated ability to synthesize information and prepare policy documents, planning documents and project proposals for a variety of audiences.
• Strong understanding of analytics tools and trends, ideally as related to health organizations.
• Knowledge of current Indigenous health topics and issues in BC and within the NH region an asset.
• Knowledge of health systems including policy and service delivery aspects.
• High degree of comfort in clinical, administrative, and research environments.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as in teams.
• Good oral and written communication skills including facilitation and negotiation skills.
• Ability to effectively present and clarify requirements, expectations, ideas and concepts to researchers and health professionals.
• Ability to anticipate change and promote innovation.
• Good leadership skills including mentoring and capacity building skills.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
