Executive Director - Enrolment
(To commence August 2025)
Trinity College School (TCS) is a leading boarding and day school for approximately 600 young people from Grades 5-12. The School is situated on a beautiful 100-acre campus in Port Hope, Ontario, one hour’s drive east of Toronto. Founded in 1865, the School places a balanced emphasis on academics, service learning, athletics, and the arts – as both a long-held TCS tradition and a thoughtful approach to a 21st-century education.
Trinity College School is looking for its next Executive Director - Enrolment. This vital role in the TCS community provides initiative and leadership, with the Executive Director facilitating enrolment management discussions and efforts. Leading an Admissions Office of six staff members, the Executive Director oversees the administration of the admission and financial assistance budgets; all admission processes and records; all admission events, travel and constituent volunteer efforts; and all recruitment and enrolment efforts, up to welcoming new families to school in September.
The successful candidate will be excited to work with a diverse group of students and families from across Canada, and approximately 30 countries, and will embrace the School’s commitment to build a community based on belonging and the wellbeing and respect of each individual.
Reporting to the Head of Trinity College School, the Executive Director - Enrolment is a member of the senior leadership team. Working closely with the leadership team and other department heads, the Executive Director - Enrolment is attentive to the processes that support the School’s enrolment and reenrolment efforts and the School’s public presence. The new Executive Director - Enrolment will take office in August 2025.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Provides leadership in enrolment management, which includes recruiting, retention, marketing, financial assistance, and research, and directs the process of attracting, enrolling, and retaining mission-appropriate students at TCS.
- Formulates annual Strategic Enrolment Management Plan with goals and objectives in the five key areas of enrolment management (recruiting, marketing, retention, financial assistance, and data/research).
- Establishes recruitment strategies to attract and keep mission-appropriate families, including a full complement of on-campus and off-campus recruiting events.
- Develops and implements strategic marketing initiatives; working collaboratively with colleagues in the School’s Communications Office and Philanthropy & Alumni Office to help ensure strategic and brand consistency across the institution.
- Coordinates all reenrolment activity with constant monitoring of attrition and retention. Chairs the Retention Committee to collaborate with division heads around retention efforts.
- Oversees the School’s financial assistance program and budget in conjunction with the awards committee and the Philanthropy & Alumni Office.
- Understands and informs the senior leadership team, admissions staff, and community about admissions and enrolment research, data, demographics, statistical data, and enrolment trends, ensuring that changes and challenges are anticipated, understood, and addressed.
- Prepares and maintains statistics regarding enrolment, geographical distribution of students, financial assistance, and attrition. Interprets these statistics, when appropriate to the leadership team, staff, and board.
- Leads and manages admissions staff of six employees.
- Sits on the senior leadership team and contributes to the long-term planning and sustainability of Trinity College School.
- Understands that evening and weekend work is often necessary; responsible for travelling both domestically and internationally, throughout the fall and winter, in support of recruitment efforts.
- Assists the Head of Trinity College School with all other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- A university degree, preferably in education, business, or a closely related field.
- Minimum 7-10 years experience in school admissions, marketing, or comparable work.
VALUED SKILLS:
- Knowledge of and/or an affinity for independent school education.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with all the School’s constituents while maintaining absolute confidentiality and professionalism.
- Success as a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, articulate spokesperson and presenter; strong written and verbal communication skills; persuasive communicator in large and small groups.
- Experience in supervising or leading a team.
- Demonstrated experience in setting and achieving financial and strategic business goals.
- A customer service focus; knowledgeable and sensitive to the needs of prospective families.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and the public.
- Ability to work effectively with an ethnically, culturally, and socially diverse student population.
- Highly self-directed and organized with an attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Possess high integrity and strong work ethic.
- Proficiency in the use of technology, including Microsoft Office Suite and database software.
