EnergyCare, Executive Director Position
EnergyCare is seeking an Executive Director with experience in nonprofit management, and a proven track record in managing staff, working with board members, collaborating with other organizations, and expanding funding options. Commitment to EnergyCare’s mission is essential. The Executive Director will help charter new partnerships, increase the organization’s visibility, integrate evaluation and research into our services, and/or provide new ideas into what we do.
The ideal candidate will have familiarity with social and environmental justice, energy burden, aging in place, energy efficiency, and related public health issues. The candidate should possess a strategic combination of attributes, knowledge, expertise and competencies that ensure EnergyCare can implement our strategic plan and continue to provide essential services for low-income St. Louisans. The ideal candidate will also have strong organizational skills, grants management experience, and knowledge of the local philanthropic market.
About EnergyCare
Since 1983, EnergyCare’s mission has been to help people with low and fixed incomes find safety from the extreme temperatures by promoting healthier, safer, and independent home environments through year-round energy-related services in St. Louis communities.
Our clients often face impossible choices such as paying for heat and air conditioning or buying food, filling their prescriptions, or paying rent. We primarily serve older adults, people living with chronic diseases or disabilities.
In the winter, we help people stay safe and warm during the cold winter months with heaters, blankets, home weatherization, and emergency utility assistance. During the summer, we assist individuals with fans, air conditioners, and emergency utility assistance. We also offer educational resources, advice, and referrals for anyone who calls our helpline.
Overview
The Executive Director is responsible for planning and strategy, vision and mission, resource gathering, grant reporting, business office operations, and physical inventory management.
Development – Manage and execute annual appeal, newsletters, third party fundraisers, donor records, and related marketing and communications;
Marketing and new Client acquisition – Manage organization’s public face, including managing website, issuing newsletter, and donor and client relations;
Finance and Business Operations – Oversee budget, invoicing, accounting and reporting, inventory management, general office administration, and financial planning;
Organizational Management – Lead meetings of Board of Directors, and manage staff.
The position requires program management (staff and volunteers) and experience working with low-income St. Louisans. The EnergyCare Executive Director also spearheads advocacy efforts, and positions EnergyCare within the appropriate networks in St. Louis. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the nonprofit landscape in St. Louis with experience working with local foundations, as well as federal, state and local government agencies. The Executive Director will position the organization for future success by identifying new opportunities.
The Executive Director will prepare and submit reports such as the annual report audit and grant reports, to the Board of Directors and funding agencies. Ensure compliance with all governmental and funding requirements, including ensuring that funds are disbursed and financial records are maintained in accordance with contract requirements and donor designations.
Qualifications
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) and Quickbooks.
