Job description

Venor has partnered with Atlantic Baptist Housing – Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home Inc. in their search for an Executive Director.

Reporting to the CEO, the Executive Director is responsible for effective management of Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home Inc. in accordance with approved strategic and operating plans and within the Organizations’ approved budget; for the implementation of approved policies; and for liaising with the Chief Executive Officer, the Board, the professional staff, the provincial department responsible for Nursing Home licensing and accrediting bodies.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Directs all functions of the Home in accordance with policies established by the Chief Executive Officer, and the Board of Directors, in compliance with all regulatory guidelines, and within fiscal capacity, in order that the strategic and operating objectives of the Home can be attained.
  • Provides leadership in achieving efficient, economical, and effective utilization of the Home’s resources to meet the selected needs of the residents through quality care.
  • Ensures the provision of quality care services through the acquisition, utilization and organization of available human, financial, and physical resources, through the development of improved techniques and practices.
  • Promotes community awareness of the Home through effective communication; provides an appropriate public relations program to gather public support for and use of the Home; approves all press releases.
  • Provides direction to and support for the Home’s activities in fundraising for the procurement of special items not normally covered in the budget.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing care delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies by continually monitoring the Home’s operations, programs, and physical properties; initiates change where required. Reviews and acts upon the reports of authorized approving agencies and organizations.

As the successful candidate you will exercise a very high degree of initiative, leadership and independent judgment while managing human resources and directing operations. The Executive Director will work with all other managers, employees, residents, families, tenants, representation of various public, private, and volunteer agencies as well as members of the local community.

As an ideal candidate you will have a degree in a field of study relevant to the operation of a 150+ beds of a nursing home including or supplemented by recognized courses in administration and/or health care; and four or more years of relevant healthcare management experience. You demonstrate a high degree of leadership initiative, integrity, and administrative ability, strong oral and written communication skills.
