The City of Iqaluit is looking for an experienced individual to join our growing team and city as the Executive Assistant.

Reporting directly to the City Council Clerk, the Executive Assistant is responsible for providing routine and confidential administrative services and support to the Mayor, Council, Chief Administrative Officer and City Clerk.
Required Qualifications:
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible office experience including 2 years of experience as an executive assistant in an office environment.
- Knowledge of municipal administration and secretarial services.
- Knowledge of Territorial Legislation, Municipal By-Laws and Roberts Rules of Order for meetings.
- Ability to plan and assist City staff to prepare materials and information for Council and the Chief Administrative Officer.
- Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in order to record accurate transcription of Council proceedings.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross cultural environment to provide assistance or direction to the general Public.
- Ability to recognize, and work, with tact, diplomacy and confidentiality, when necessary, when dealing with politically sensitive issues.
- Ability to adapt to and assist in the implementation of changes in organizational structure, remain abreast of current political issues, assist in bridging the gap of the administrative and political areas.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and with conflicting priorities.
Assets:
- College Diploma in Business Management or Administration preferred.
- Political Acumen
- Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence
- The ability to speak and write in English and Inuktitut.
Equivalencies that include a combination of education and experience may be considered.
