Summary:

Miller Waste Systems Inc. is seeking an Events and Communications Coordinator for an 8-month contract to support internal and external communication initiatives, social media management, and event coordination. This role will enhance brand presence, promote company culture, and ensure effective communication across all channels. This position will play a key role in managing social media, strengthening employee engagement, and coordinating external events and trade shows to maintain Miller Waste’s strong industry presence.

Responsibilities:

In the position of Events and Communications Coordinator, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Events Coordination:

  • Organize and oversee external events, including trade shows, Board of Trade events, and community initiatives.
  • Ensure a Miller Waste representative is present at all relevant local and non-local events, coordinating attendance as needed.
  • Provide logistical support, including booking venues, ordering materials, coordinating travel arrangements, and managing event communications.
  • Work closely with internal teams to align event objectives with the company’s branding and strategic goals.

External and Internal Communications:

  • Develop and schedule social media posts that showcase company culture, promote employee achievements, and highlight our team’s expertise.
  • Monitor, respond to, and manage social media comments, Google and Bing reviews, and Glassdoor feedback.
  • Ensure that reviews and feedback are acknowledged, actioned upon, and escalated to the relevant teams for resolution.
  • Assist with the design, writing, and review of content for internal newsletters.
  • Maintain and update marketing SharePoint sites with the latest campaigns and resources.
  • Provide support on intranet, as needed.
  • Create promotional materials, posters, and other design assets for internal events and employee engagement initiatives using preset branded templates.
  • Capture and archive photos and videos from internal events for future use and documentation.

Requirements:

  • Experience in corporate communications, social media management, and event planning.
  • Strong writing, editing, and design skills for both internal and external communications.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to communication challenges.
