Position Description
The Evening Supervisor Support Services POCU is responsible for ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction to the OR team (medical and nursing) with the provision of cleaning and support services in the Peri-operative Care Unit (POCU). This position is the primary contact for all POCU Attendant staff related issues. The Evening Supervisor Support Services POCU provides leadership and direction to all POCU Attendants on a daily and strategic planning basis. The scope of the position has administrative, operational, human resource and financial accountabilities.

Here's What You'll Get To Do:
- Participates in preparation of labour, equipment and supply operating budgets.
- Tests and evaluates new products pertinent to the department's services in conjunction with Materials management to identify cost effective equivalent materials.
- Implements and maintains departmental cost and quality control systems by reviewing reports and justifying variances.
- Monitors daily activities and functions of staff through rounding to assure high standards of customer service, cost effectiveness and safety.
- Ensures that employees are up to date on current departmental initiatives through a variety of communication methods.
- Acts as the primary customer service contact for POCU Attendants related matters and works collaboratively to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Ensures a smooth shift change, including coordinating and assigning work area and reviewing and approving sign-in sheets in preparation for the timekeeper.
- Monitors work schedules/assignments and recommends change as necessary to ensure high standards of service and appropriate staffing levels at all times.
- Serves as departmental resource in interacting with other departments or units within the hospital.
- Develops and maintains policy, procedures and guidelines associated with the delivery of services within POCU.
- Assures the provisions of the collective agreement are adhered to.
- Responsible for annual performance appraisals of all staff.
- Addresses performance issues and manages absenteeism in consultation with the Senior Manager on course of action to be taken.
- Monitors and assists employees requiring modified work, and collaborates with the Manager and Occupational Health to develop safe work plans for employees returning from medical leaves.
Here's What You'll Need:
- Degree/Diploma from a recognized college or university in a related course or completion of an OR Attendant course or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Registration with OHHA preferred.
- 3+ years supervisory experience in either Environmental or Facilities services in the health care field is preferred.
- Experience supervising in a unionized environment is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of environmental health care services and procedures, Infection Control and C.S.A. Standards.
- Familiarization with Housekeeping equipment and instrumentation an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively (both verbal and written).
- Multi-tasking skills to effectively and efficiently respond to a variety of requests for information and assistance in a timely manner.
- Ability to organize and prioritize own work and that of others.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity & inclusion.
