Job SummaryThe Information Technology Librarian reports to the Manager of Support Services. This position is responsible for assisting in the daily operations of materials management and workflow; participating in the establishment and implementation of operational processes related to the ILS and electronic resources; assists with development and implementation of department operational processes; and to develop, maintain and promote the library’s resources and collections.
Primary Responsibilities- Daily administration of the Integrated Library System (ILS) software.
- Development and maintenance of the library’s website.
- Recommends and implements ILS processes and procedures to support best use.
- Provides support & training to staff in the use of the ILS.
- Configuration and administration of the Digital Archive (Portfolio) software.
- Administration of various internal software products that support library resources and operations.
- Installation and maintenance of ILS related peripherals (i.e. Scanners, receipt printers, RFID pads) and software.
- Compiles and maintains statistics on electronic resource usage.
- Creates and distributes ILS/Analytics reports as required.
- Collection development focused on electronic resources and virtual collections.
- Provide technical support for ECL supported products (databases) and services to staff and library patrons.
- Research and recommendation of related technology for acquisition.
- Assist IT Team with software updates and hardware installation and maintenance.
- Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
- Promotes a positive impression of the Essex County Library in all interactions.
- Regularly reviews ECL communications, policies and procedures.
- Other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills- Master's Degree in Library and/or Information Sciences from an accredited university.
- 3 years of practical/demonstrated experience administering ILS software required (SirsiDynix Symphony experience preferred).
- 1 year of practical experience in MARC cataloging required.
- 2 years of practical experience administering Bibliotheca Open+ and security gates an asset.
- Demonstrated computer skills with HTML coding and CSS.
- Basic knowledge of Javascript, Perl and Python an asset.
- Demonstrated familiarity with SIP2, EDI, and 9XX.
- Demonstrated proficiency working with business productivity software (Office 365).
- Advanced research skills using print and electronic reference tools.
- Demonstrated customer service skills, effectively able to communicate technical applications to both internal and external clients.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering staff training.
- Advanced literacy skills (vocabulary, spelling and comprehension).

Hours of WorkHours in Library Services will be seven (7) paid hours per day between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., plus a one-half (1/2) hour unpaid lunch Monday to Friday.
