The ERP Project Director reports to the Vice President of Transformation and is responsible for coordinating the planning, design, and implementation of the SAP ERP system. This role plays a crucial part in enabling Teck's enterprise operating model (EOM) and aligning with the company's strategic priorities and top quartile Total Shareholder Return (TSR).
This role centers around aligning ERP scope and approach with strategic business goals. It involves improving operational processes and encouraging positive relationships with collaborators, customers, partners, and team members to drive successful ERP implementation and optimization.
Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
- Lead all aspects of the development and execution of the ERP strategy, ensuring alignment with the organization’s enterprise operating model and contributing to the achievement of Teck’s strategic priorities and outcomes.
- Lead and mentor the ERP team, ensuring they have the vital skills and resources to deliver on the program. Ensure transparency and alignment of accountabilities and decision rights, while encouraging teamwork.
- Establish mechanisms for maintaining strategic alignment on priorities and objectives across governance groups, ERP team, and partners.
- Leverage project management services provided by the Transformation Management Office to lead the end-to-end delivery of a green-field SAP implementation, ensuring timely, within scope, and on-budget delivery.
- Partner with other Transformation project teams to manage dependencies, maintain strategic alignment, and advance overall outcomes collaboratively.
- Engage with senior partners to understand their needs and ensure SAP solutions meet critical business requirements. Fulfill the role of the main intermediary between IT, business units, and external vendors.
- Collaborate on the development and execution of a comprehensive change program, using multiple mediums and channels to drive cultural change related to ERP systems.
- Establish governance structures to manage system changes, upgrades, and progress. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, security protocols, and industry standards.
- Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success and minimize potential disruptions.
- Work in partnership with the Transformation Management Office, Organizational Readiness, and Enterprise Operating Model teams to ensure cohesive and coordinated project delivery.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in SAP / ERP implementation and management, prior experience in the mining industry is preferred.
- Proficient in Software development lifecycles, agile, release management, organizational change.
- Knowledge of SAP ERP systems including architecture, modules, and integrations. Expertise in leading large-scale ERP implementations and upgrades. Familiarity with SAP Activate or ASAP methodologies is preferred.
- Consistent track record in building and leading large teams with diverse functions, including employees, vendor partners, contractors, and consultants, while effectively managing budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and influence people and engage resources effectively across different areas and levels of the organization.
- Ability to align ERP strategy with overall business goals and enterprise operating model, translating this into actionable plans.
- Proficiency in leading complex projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
- Ability to lead large-scale change programs, manage resistance, and drive cultural change related to ERP systems.
- Superb communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively with technology functions, business leaders, and external partners.
- Ability to make data-driven decisions to handle risk, improve system performance, user experience, and optimize SAP functionality.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Proficiency in Spanish is beneficial.
