We are seeking an experienced Environmental Project Manager with a strong background in remediation and reclamation program management within the oil, gas, and energy sectors. The ideal candidate will bring over five years of expertise in environmental site assessments (Phase 1 and Phase 2 ESA), regulatory compliance, and environmental closure processes, including coordination with provincial and federal permitting requirements. This role requires a deep understanding of contamination assessment, exposure control, and site-specific liability assessments, as well as practical knowledge of sub-soil salinity tools.
As a Project Manager, you'll be at the forefront of planning and executing client field programs, playing a pivotal role in both team and stakeholder engagement, working collaboratively with Indigenous partners, municipal representatives, and industry leaders to drive project success and community alignment.
Your responsibilities will include analyzing environmental data, proposing environmentally responsible solutions, and providing expert guidance to establish, oversee, and report on regulatory activities for our mining and/or upstream and midstream oil and gas programs.

Make a Difference
- Lead the development, strategic planning, and successful execution of remediation and reclamation projects, ensuring alignment with client goals and regulatory standards.
- Manage Phase 2 / Stage 2 ESAs, Detailed Site Assessments, and Remediation and Reclamation applications.
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies, including with the AER, AEP, and federal agencies, to ensure compliance and achieve environmental closure.
- Engage with diverse stakeholders, including Indigenous partners, municipal representatives, and energy producers, to align project goals and address community concerns.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to junior staff, supporting their professional development and fostering a strong project team.
- Completion and/or review of reports, plans, and assessments pertaining to the investigation, reclamation, remediation, and management of contaminated sites.
- Preparation and submission of recommendations to the regulators for issuance of a reclamation or remediation certificate.
- Oversee and provide final approval on comprehensive project reports, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with project objectives before submission to stakeholders.
- Analyze and interpret collected field data and write comprehensive technical reports.
- Oversee budget tracking and manage contractor relationships to ensure project milestones and financial objectives are met.
- Commit to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to established health, safety, and quality standards.
- Actively participate in safety initiatives, report potential hazards, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
Showcase your Talents & Achievements
- Undergraduate degree in Agrology, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Forestry, Land Reclamation, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in environmental project management, with a focus on site assessments, remediation, and reclamation within the oil, gas, or energy sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental site assessments (Phase 1 and Phase 2 ESA) and regulatory compliance, particularly with the AER, AEP, and federal permitting requirements.
- Strong understanding of contamination assessments, exposure control plans, sub-soil salinity tool application and site-specific liability assessments (SSLA) is an asset.
- Familiarity with environmental remediation, reclamation, and restoration techniques, especially on contaminated sites and spill-impacted areas.
- Proficient in designing and executing site characterization, delineation programs, and spill response/clean-up operations.
- A member in good standing with an Alberta professional association is an asset.
- Experience in senior-level report review and sign-off for the following is considered an asset: Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Remediation Reports, Detailed Site Assessments (DSAs), and Land Use Planning Reports specific to SSLA and groundwater considerations.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills, communication skills and technical writing skills.
