Environmental Planning Engineer 2

The Opportunity

The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting for an Environmental Planning Engineer 2 to fill a permanent full-time position within the Environmental Planning section. The Environmental Planning Engineer 2 is responsible for the preparation, administration and completion of maintenance plans/capital projects and their associated budgets within various sections of the Environmental Services (Water, Wastewater, Waste Management, and Construction & Maintenance). The Engineer will also be responsible for providing input into approvals/master plans for the various sections.

The primary focus of this role will be within the Waste Management area.

As Our Preferred Candidate You Will Have

1. B.Sc. Civil or Environmental Engineering, Professional Engineer registered with Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta
2. Four years’ experience in the management (design/construction/project management) of infrastructure maintenance projects related to:
1. Waste Management facilities (preferred),
2. Water treatment plant,
3. Wastewater treatment plant,
4. Potable water distribution systems, and
5. Non-potable water collection systems.
3. Experience in Landfill Operations (preferred)
4. Experience in treatment plant operations and maintenance is an asset
5. Previous experience in master planning and approval document preparation
6. Broad knowledge of project management, construction methods and practices
7. Extensive Waste Management (preferred), water treatment and wastewater treatment process knowledge
8. Self–motivated / self-disciplined
9. Effective team leader and team member
