One of our automotive clients is looking for an Environmental Health & Safety Manager for their manufacturing facility in Windsor - Essex, ON region.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and local authorities.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and mitigate risks.
EHS Program Development and Implementation:
Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive EHS policies and procedures.
Coordinate and conduct EHS training programs for employees at all levels.
Lead the implementation of safety management systems and initiatives, such as ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001.
Risk Management:
Identify potential hazards and risks associated with manufacturing processes and implement measures to mitigate them.
Conduct risk assessments and incident investigations, and develop corrective and preventive actions.
Monitor and report on EHS performance metrics, and drive continuous improvement.
Environmental Management:
Oversee the management of hazardous materials, waste disposal, and environmental sustainability initiatives.
Ensure proper documentation and reporting of environmental compliance, including air, water, and waste permits.
Lead initiatives to reduce the environmental footprint of manufacturing operations.
Safety Culture and Employee Engagement:
Foster a proactive safety culture through leadership, training, and communication.
Engage with employees at all levels to promote safety awareness and responsibility.
Manage safety committees and other employee-driven safety initiatives.
Emergency Response and Preparedness:
Develop and implement emergency response plans, including fire safety, spill response, and evacuation procedures.
Coordinate emergency drills and ensure readiness for potential incidents.
Serve as the point of contact for external emergency services.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay informed on industry best practices and technological advancements related to EHS.
Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance safety and environmental performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into production processes and new product development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in EHS management, preferably within the automotive or manufacturing industry.
In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
Experience with EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to analyze complex data, conduct risk assessments, and implement corrective actions.
Certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent is preferred.
