Reporting to the Team Lead - Environmental Health and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization, the Environmental Health Officer is responsible for carrying out a diverse program of environmental health protection. Using a variety of professional and technical skills, the position reduces the incidence of communicable disease, injury, and health hazards; performs technical assessments; provides consultative and education services; ensures that community development does not conflict with a healthy environment; ensures compliance with environment health legislation, policy, and standards.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days - 08:30 to 16:30,

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent, recognized by the Board of Certification, Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors.
Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada) issued by the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors and be registered or eligible to be registered with the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors.
Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License and possession of a personal vehicle.

  3. Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, the public, medical staff, and the members of the interdisciplinary team using oral written and computer communication means. Demonstrated ability to effectively resolve conflict.
  4. Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make decisions effectively.
  5. Management: Demonstrated ability to organize work, set objectives and establish priorities.
  6. Leadership: Promotes staff morale, engagement, and risk-taking.
  7. Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and a commitment to excellence in the provision of client care.
  8. Equipment: Demonstrated computer skills including the use of Windows based programs.
