Environmental Health and Safety Assistant Manager

Our client located in Simcoe, Ontario has an immediate opening for an Environmental Health & Safety Assistant Manager.

The Assistant Manager will be responsible for the leadership of the EHS Department. The Assistant Manager will work closely to ensure smooth and efficient operations while promoting a team environment and improving all methods. This position is a salary position and works a straight day shift.

Responsibilities

1. Ensuring compliance with legislative and company requirements.
2. Working with the Ministry of Labour, Ministry of the Environment, and other regulatory bodies.
3. Researching, drafting, and implementing policies to support company initiatives.
4. Provide leadership in various areas, including safety awareness, problem-solving, and cost management.
5. Provide guidance to the Management Team regarding solutions to ergonomic and medical aid incidents and the implementation of EHS programs.
6. Develop, strengthen, and manage EHS systems within the organization.
7. Manage WSIB and ESRTW programs.
8. Facilitate training to all levels within the company on EHS-related programs, policies, and initiatives.
9. Incident prevention through Risk Analysis, ergonomics review, information sharing, and audit methods.
10. Co-ordination of all emergency preparedness and response activities and training.

Qualifications/Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field OR 5+ years of applicable experience preferably in industrial safety/environmental management.
2. Minimum 3-5 years of management experience (manufacturing/automotive as an asset).
3. Knowledge of applicable legislation.
4. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office.
