Agnico Eagle Mines' Detour Lake Mine is situated on the traditional homelands of the Apitipi Anicinapek Nation, Moose Cree First Nation, and Taykwa Tagamou Nation. YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Environment and Sustainability Superintendent, you will be part of the Environment and Sustainability Department. You will be the technical lead for environmental management across site and you will be supporting the Environment & Sustainability Superintendent to develop a robust monitoring program while ensuring compliance to current regulatory permits and commitments. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Provide technical guidance to the Environment Supervisors and the rest of the team;
  • Support Environment & Sustainability Superintendent in developing and auditing the Environmental Management System;
  • Coordinate, manage and ensure the health and safety of on-site consultants and research groups;
  • Collaborate with consultants on compliance initiatives. Review and prepare responses to comments from regulators, consultants and other business partners;
  • Monitor the impact of the operation on the natural environment, identify areas of risk and propose adaptive management strategies to mitigate impacts;
  • Promote site awareness of environmental requirements and conditions for operations and provide support and advice to department heads on inclusion of environmental consideration in work plans;
  • Support incident investigation and review report.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • University degree in Environmental Engineering, science or environmental discipline;
  • 10+ years progressive experience in an environmental role within a mining operation;
  • 5 years in a supervisory role with demonstrated success mentoring a team of professionals;
  • Extensive knowledge of Canadian and Ontario legislation relevant to the mining industry;
  • Practical experience with acid rock drainage and metal leaching assessment and monitoring;
  • Knowledge of environmental management systems;
  • Experience with SAP considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of the Ontario health, safety and environment acts and any legislation directly related to the mining industry;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

Your Work Schedule:

  • Schedule: 4 days of work at our Detour Lake mine site, followed by 3 days off;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
