Position Details:

Position: Cement Engineering Technician
Reports to: Environmental Manager
Shift: Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts

Summary:

The Cement Engineering Technician is responsible for support with different operational activities at the Ash Grove Mississauga Cement Plant. The position is required to be on site. Selected candidates will be assigned to a department based on skill sets and business needs. Departments include:

  1. Production
  2. Process
  3. Maintenance
  4. Environment
  5. Quality

Cement Technicians who excel will be strongly considered for permanent employment.

What you’ll be contributing:

  1. Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  2. Support shut-down maintenance activities by acting as confined space entry monitor two days a week.
  3. Administrative tasks as required by the department, such as PO’s, SAP requests, PR’s, etc.
  4. Complete field inspections.
  5. Support projects related to environmental compliance and improvement such as Housekeeping and 5S.
  6. Contribute to sustainable operations and greenhouse gas reduction targets.
  7. Test and audit plant systems.
  8. Conduct data analysis and prepare written reports.
  9. Assist in the development of operational and maintenance procedures, ensure sufficient communication across all shift teams.
  10. Analyze operating system and production data for efficiencies.
  11. Prepare cost-benefit analyses.
  12. Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  1. 0+ years experience, new graduates welcome.
  2. Post Secondary Education Preferred disciplines include: Engineering Technician, Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering.

Knowledge/Skills Required:

  1. Proficient computer skills, experience with MS Excel and/or SAP a plus.

Physical Requirements:

The job has a lot of variety and is not routine. Cement techs will be required to work outside, at heights, warm temperatures, and at times around and over water, in dusty environments and confined spaces. The position will be predominantly day shift, but the incumbent will be required to work shifts or weekends as necessary.

Work Environment:

This position is based across the plant.
