Position Summary

The Quick Service Assistant is responsible for helping with the effective management and running of the venue’s concessions operations. This includes, but is not limited to, food preparation and production, compliance with alcohol service policies, guest service, employee/volunteer hiring, training and scheduling, closing duties, balancing bookwork, troubleshooting, minimizing waste, and other closing duties. The Quick Service Assistant must provide a high level of event oversight, technical proficiency, and operational/personnel support to ensure the smooth running of any assigned event.

The Quick Service Assistant must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work events as scheduled per business need.

This role will pay an hourly rate between $19.25 to $20.75.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing, developing, and mentoring staff in concessions stands, supporting approximately 25-35 employees.
  • Actively supervise, coach, counsel, train, direct, and mentor employees in meeting company quality standards.
  • Initiate and authorize all employment actions such as hiring, training, promotion, transfer, discipline, suspension, and termination.
  • Complete employee documentation including performance and attendance issues in accordance with company policies and practices.
  • Ensure proper setup of all concession locations prior to doors opening, including verifying opening inventory, assigning duties to concession workers, ensuring sanitation standards are met, and verifying operational status of each location.
  • Ensure Stand Lead follows proper procedures for cash distribution and handling.
  • Provide high-level oversight and operational expertise for the smooth, efficient, and profitable execution of events.
  • Cover any open position to ensure location is fully operational and company standards for speed of service and guest satisfaction are met.
  • Assist with Premium Services operations and event needs as required on an event-by-event basis as directed by the Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Provide direction and oversight to Stand Supervisors and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with OVG and venue policies, procedures, and practices, including alcohol service and food handling/sanitation guidelines.
  • Report any compliance issues, including recognizing visibly intoxicated guests and taking action to cut off alcohol service, to the Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Oversee post-event administrative forms and product tracking reports.
  • Serve as a resource for POS applications, training, and hardware problems.
  • Ensure a safe work environment free from harassment or discrimination; address all safety concerns, potential hazards, accidents, or incidents immediately.
  • Relay safety/health issues to management promptly.
  • Ensure staff are aware of workplace expectations; provide ongoing assistance, training, and mentoring; promote a positive and cooperative work environment by working alongside staff; reinforce procedures through repetition; lead by example and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
  • Assist the management team with projects including training, inventory, and special events.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff, and guests in a clear, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Ability to make sound business/operations decisions quickly and under pressure.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Solid working knowledge of computer applications: Microsoft Office, POS systems (knowledge of Squirrel is an asset), and timekeeping systems (knowledge of ADP Workforce Now is an asset).
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of all existing concession locations: geographical location, equipment, evacuation procedures, adjacent employee and guest areas, and facility access.
  • Thorough knowledge of all applicable sanitation requirements, food preparation guidelines, alcohol service policies, and safety standards pertaining to OVG and venue concession operations.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions as they relate to POS cash/credit transactions, cash reconciliation, and product inventory.
  • Ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly.
  • Ability to adhere to the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality.
  • Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possess valid Food Handlers and Responsible Beverage Certifications.
