Armbrae Academy was founded in 1887 and is a co-educational PreSchool to grade 12 University preparatory school with approximately 300 students. Armbrae offers a structured but informal atmosphere that provides students an opportunity to form close relationships with peers and teachers. Armbrae is a member in good standing of the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS) and is accredited by the Ministry of Education and Early Childhood Development for Nova Scotia to grant the Nova Scotia high school leaving certificate.
We are looking for an experienced, skilled and innovative English Teacher, Grades 9 - 12 (one year contract), who can inspire our students. You are actively engaged in planning, implementing and assessing student learning. You have a demonstrated ability to differentiate instructional practices for a diverse community of learners. Your passion for teaching includes a commitment to the co-curricular life of the school. This position is a permanent and full-time role and will begin at the end of August 2025.
Normal classroom environment: sitting, standing, walking, use of computer. In a physical education class, a normal classroom environment could mean a gymnasium or outdoor sports field.
Due to the nature of a teacher's position, flexibility of hours worked is required throughout the school year. The Teacher will hold class every day except during the school vacation and will fulfill all curricular duties. The Teacher will be available for meetings and/or administrative duties as necessary throughout the school year, this can include meetings or professional development at the beginning or end of a term prior to or after a vacation period. The Teacher will also be involved in assigned extra-curricular activities and supervision throughout the school year.
