The Department of Biology and Environmental Sciences (Algoma University, Sault Ste. Marie,
Ontario, Canada) is seeking candidates to work with faculty to develop a bank of
literacy/numeracy quiz questions for three upper-year courses within the Biology and
Environmental Science programs (BIOL4696 - Toxicology, ENVS XXXX Environmental Risk
Assessment, ENVS 3206 Environmental Chemistry). The successful candidate will work from
course materials, as well as a catalog of common grammatical errors/challenges that has
already been created. The successful applicant will be responsible for producing 15 quiz
questions for each of 10 chapters for each course, for a total of 450 questions across the
three courses.
The English and Scientific Literacy Numeracy Quiz Developer will design engaging and
effective assessments focused on English language proficiency and scientific
literacy/numeracy. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of educational
principles and a passion for enhancing student learning outcomes through innovative
assessment methods.
RESPONSIBILITIES
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Effort: Minimal: The position entails working at a desk and/or computer.
Physical Environment: Minimal: No exposure to unpleasant/disagreeable conditions.
Sensory Attention: Moderate: A moderate sensory effort is required to achieve accuracy in providing assistance with this position.
Mental Stress: Moderate: Work activities are performed with occasional exposure to one or more mental pressures but the stress would not be noticeably disruptive to the work nor result in unpleasant reaction (e.g. normal deadlines, client interactions, repetitious work, etc).
