Reports to the Breakdown Manager on all matters, regarding the assigned and breakdown issue. The Breakdown Detailer is part of the design team and shall ensure to meet all schedules in a timely manner. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Architectural Technology, Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
Years of Experience:
Minimum 5+years of drafting parts, and/or breakdown.
Working Conditions:
Site visits requires wearing PPE for all site work and in other locations;
At times requires driving to visit sites; and
Flexible to work overtime as required.
Detail-oriented with the ability to read architectural drawings;
Knowledgeable in the glazing industry and knows about curtain wall products and systems;
Knowledgeable in AutoCad
Ability to design or complete fabrication drawings;
Ability to act as a mentor to Intermediate/Junior Breakdown Detailers
Communication daily by telephone, email and in person;
Ability to work independently without supervision;
Demonstrate State's core values and work in a team environment; and
Ability to lead cross functional project teams including drafters, breakdown and PM
Job Specific Duties:
Review approved shop drawings or marked-up shop drawing prior to doing breakdown;
Ensure working from the current set of shop drawing and approved sample list;
Request Breakdown Manager/Project Manager for the cutout and mark-up if not available yet;
Attend a kick-off meeting with the installer to discuss if there are special requirements needed in window installation;
Review with Breakdown Manager and Project Manager and ensure all responses to RFI and SI incorporated in the breakdown;
Mark all revisions on the shop drawing set used for as-built purposes;
Site measurement must be laid out in CAD if necessary;
Work closely with drafters in the development of shop drawings
Make shop drawing revisions as required;
Coordinate with the installer and the FM as requested
Do the breakdown according to standard practice;
Prepare sketches where required i.e. frit pattern, vent box cutouts, etc.
Discuss with Breakdown Manager, Project Manager, and Field Manager if there are discrepancies between the shop drawings and site measurements and propose solutions
Release breakdown to purchasing and plant as per schedule and procedure;
Prepare pull sheets and take offs per release (extrusion, awning/casement material & swing door) to prepare materials to production;
Maintain weekly feedback to the Breakdown Manager on the timeline of projects and take appropriate actions to meet project deadlines;
Complete breakdown package;
Fully cross-trained as a draftsperson capable of preparing and releasing shop drawings;
Review fabrication package details with Production Manager during the preparation of the package;
Coordinate with the Project Manager and Field Manager with regards to any special site and/or fabrication conditions; and
Ability to work with scanned drawings and adapt them to the fabrication releases.
Any other tasks assigned by the Breakdown Manager.
