Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Courtenay Manager, the successful Engineer in Training or Junior P.Eng. will be involved in a combination of civil and geotechnical projects. The position will include the provision of engineering services from proposal stage through to survey, assessment, design and construction of projects. Projects may vary from resource sector road and crossing survey and design to geotechnical assessments to support resource development and construction. The successful applicant will have the opportunity for professional development working with a motivated and dynamic team of experienced professionals. Fieldwork is an integral part of this position, and applicants must be prepared for field work including hiking in to remote sites in all conditions.
Major Job Functions
Assisting civil engineers and geotechnical engineers in all aspects of their projects including:
Site investigations; including bridge and dock inspections, stormwater management investigations, geotechnical drilling and/or test pitting
Site surveying (total station and RTK GPS)
Report preparation
Road and crossing design, stormwater design, urban development design.
Coordinating project drawings and reports
Assisting with field reviews during construction
Assisting with project management and/or contract administration

Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships across all levels of the business.
Strong technical analysis and technical writing capabilities
Physically fit and comfortable with outdoor work and occasional travel
Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to work on numerous projects
Willingness to learn and work with limited supervision
Education And Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Geological or Forest Engineering
Eligible for registration with EGBC as an EIT
Salary Range
1st Year EIT (E1-E2) $60-$70k
2nd Year EIT (E2) $65-$75k
3rd Year EIT (E2) $75-$85k
4th Year EIT (E2-E3) $80-$90k
Junior P.Eng. (E3) $85 – $100k
