The Opportunity

We are looking for a very organized and detail-oriented problem solver with a positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills to join our engineering team. This individual will be an integral part of our team and play a key role in taking our manufacturing site in Smiths Falls to the next level.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site technical process support to Canopy Growth’s operating personnel in Smiths Falls on manufacturing, packaging, material handling, cleaning, and processing operations – including troubleshooting equipment and process problems encountered during production.
  • Lead product and process development through hands-on laboratory work.
  • Participate in cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with the process engineering team on new and improvement projects. Plan, execute, and complete assigned projects.
  • Other duties as assigned such as:
    • Assist with specification, scale-up, and design of process equipment.
    • Assist with commissioning and installation of new or retrofit equipment.
    • Assist with the pre-start safety review (PSR) process for new and existing equipment.

Experience

  • B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of manufacturing experience in general, and cannabis experience in specific, is an asset.
  • Proven ability to be creative, take initiative, and independently drive tasks to completion is required.
  • The ability to effortlessly transition between manufacturing and laboratory environments is essential for the role.
  • Organized, detail-oriented and strong time management skills.
  • Basic programming skills in VBA or Python is an asset.
  • Familiarity with drawing software such as AutoCAD is an asset.

This is a full-time contract role (14 months) based out of Smiths Falls, Ontario.
