Position Summary:

Acuren is currently recruiting for a Materials Engineer to support our Engineering Department in the Alberta Oil Sands Region. As a Materials Engineer at Acuren, you will be contributing directly to the success of our clients' operations. Position Information:

  • 6 month Position: January 2025 to July 2025
  • Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week
  • Need to be local to Fort McMurray, AB

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct engineering work including:
    • Performing engineering review of equipment integrity inspections and provide recommendations on serviceability
    • Preparing repair designs and procedures for tanks and pressure equipment
    • Conducting field engineering services including chemical analysis, hardness testing and laser profilometry
    • Coordinating laboratory assessment techniques (optical microscopy, fractography, hardness testing, image analysis, metallography, and chemical analysis)
    • Recommending materials for particular services environment and writing materials specifications
  • Participating in technical projects:
    • Providing technical support to projects
    • Ensuring efficient use of resources and delivery of results

Requirements:

  • Professional Engr / EIT registered with APEGA (will consider other province registration if transferrable)
  • Bachelor / Master of Materials Engineering / Metallurgy Engineering
  • Preferred to have some Oil and Gas or oil/gas transmission pipeline or oil/gas equipment fabrication experience
  • Conversant with Welding (ASME Sec IX, API-577), Damage/corrosion mechanisms (API-571)
  • Conversant with Failure analysis
  • Conversant with RBI (risk based approach) or API580+581
  • 3-5 years of industry experience with at least 2 years in the oil/gas industry
