Minimum Qualifications
Engineer A
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years of engineering experience acquired before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.
Licenses or Certifications:- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, must have the ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment.
Engineer B
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field related to engineering, plus six (6) years of experience in engineering acquired before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.
Licenses or Certifications:- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, must have the ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment.
Engineer C
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus eight (8) years of engineering experience acquired before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.
Licenses or Certifications:- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, must have the ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment.
Position Overview
The Capital Delivery Services Department Engineering Services Division serves as an in-house engineering consulting team providing hands-on design of city capital improvement projects (CIP) that includes street reconstruction and roadway design, sidewalks/ADA projects, urban trails, water/wastewater/reclaimed water renewal and drainage/stormwater improvement projects. This position designs, signs and seals design and construction documents and serves as the engineer of record for CIP projects in accordance with the Texas Engineering Practices Act.

Travel
The Capital Delivery Services Department is comprised of multiple facilities located throughout Austin. If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Record Evaluation, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

The City of Austin Telework Program is designed to empower employees and leaders to establish hybrid work arrangements that promote high levels of performance and engagement. The City of Austin has an established work arrangement under which an employee is scheduled to work at least 3 days per week at their designated worksite. Some positions may require additional time at their designated worksite.
Pay Range
Eng A: $39.49-$51.34
Eng B: $42.26-$54.94
Eng C: $45.22-$58.78
Hours
Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; Alternate scheduled and/or flexible hours available based on business needs.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing civil engineering design projects in roadways, urban trails/sidewalks, water/wastewater, and/or stormwater/drainage, etc.
- Experience preparing engineering budget and construction cost estimates, preliminary engineering reports, technical specifications, and contract and bid documents.
- Experience directing and coordinating with other professionals such as sub-consultants, surveyors or other stakeholders in a design team environment.
- Experience permitting civil engineering projects through Federal, State and Local governmental entities.
- Experience in civil engineering drafting with Computer Aided Design Drafting (CADD) software and ability to adapt to workflow processes.
- Ability to travel to multiple work locations.
