Overview:
The Business Decision Support Professional facilitates complex decision-making in support of the design and implementation of business change or improvement initiatives. The Business Decision Support Professional is most likely an expert in business, specializing in a particular field such as Risk Management, Policy Advisory, Strategic Planning, Business Process Improvement, or Business Transformation.

What you will be doing:

  1. This role contributes to achieving compliance to the new WSBC emergency planning regulations related to hazardous materials. This role is responsible for improving preparedness and response by ensuring plans are adapted or developed for all company sites.
  2. Develop guidelines on what is considered a hazardous material in a quantity that may endanger a person.
  3. Develop an inventory of hazardous materials, detailing locations, info on effects precautions and approximate and maximum quantities at all sites.
  4. Develop and document for all sites, a risk assessment for hazardous substances, considering potential emergency generation or workplace entry, in consultation with a qualified person, including risks from and to external workplaces, and utilizing industry-assigned hazard ratings.
  5. Develop for all sites emergency response procedures associated with the incoming and outgoing threats.
  6. Develop a hazardous materials drill that is annually planned, documented, and linked to lessons learned.

What you must have:

  1. Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience (Emergency Management, Operations, Safety, Project Management, Engineering, or related field) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence with senior level stakeholders.
  3. Demonstrated communication abilities, specifically in a dynamic or rapidly changing environment.
  4. Understanding of emergency response procedures is an asset.
  5. Knowledge of SharePoint, network drives, and MS Teams.
  6. Strong relationship management as well as proven ability to effectively collaborate with and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  7. Demonstrated project management capabilities.
  8. Ability to prepare senior manager briefings and other reports on progress.
  9. Proven ability to work independently, facilitate conflict resolution when needed, thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders that when working together effectively, determine your success.
  10. Understanding of technologies used to facilitate information sharing across multiple stakeholders and user groups.
  11. Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to plan, execute, and keep track of work.
  12. Experience with emergency response planning and the emergency management system (i.e. incident command system, emergency centre activation) will be a benefit.

Salary/Rate Range: $64.00 - $78.00 per hour

Term: 5-month contract; most likely to extend
