Full-time: $350,000+ per annum (Fee for Service) + MOCAP + 23.10% MSP Premium + REEF + $35,798.40 Annual Flat Fee.

$20,000 Signing Bonus + Relocation Allowance of $9,000 - $15,000 (TBD). RCME and REAP funding also available.

We are seeking a Physician (FP/ER) to join our team and provide Emergency Room coverage at Dawson Creek and District Hospital. The Emergency Room sees 22,000+ visits per year and is covered by Family Physicians in the community and one other full-time FP/ER Physician. Hours and shifts are negotiable; office and other hospital work also available.

Hospital Services

Dawson Creek And District Hospital is a Full-Service Community Hospital That Provides Service To Dawson Creek And Surrounding Communities. It Has 31 Acute Care Beds And 15 Regional Adult Psychiatric Beds. Services Include:

  • 24/7 emergency
  • ICU
  • Medical and surgical in-patient care
  • Diagnostics and Medical imaging with CT
  • Orthopedic surgery
  • General surgery
  • Day surgery
  • Respiratory therapy
  • Diabetic education
  • Cancer care

Dawson Creek is known as "Mile Zero", where the world-famous Alaska Highway begins! The city has a population of approximately 13,000, provides primary service to a population of 20,000, and helps serve the larger population of the Peace River Region, approximately 70,000.

The city offers shopping, services, restaurants, cafés, a health food store, art gallery, live theatre, and the state-of-the-art Ovintiv Events Centre that hosts major music concerts. Our indoor Farmer's Market is open every Saturday, year-round!

Recreation Opportunities

Recreation opportunities include a state-of-the-art indoor Aquatic Centre, indoor walking track, gyms, yoga, Pilates, and dance studios, biking trails, golfing, swimming, boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, hiking, camping, bird watching, and visiting our numerous parks. In the wintertime, enjoy our indoor curling rink, two indoor skating rinks, 25 kilometres of groomed trails for cross-country (Nordic) skiing, Bear Mountain Ski Hill (downhill skiing and snowboarding), back-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling.

The city has a wide variety of authentic cuisines including Chinese, Japanese, and Italian (to name a few), and also a wide variety of dining atmospheres: choose from high-end restaurants, hotel buffets, familiar franchises, and local coffee shops.

Dawson Creek has eleven elementary schools, one middle school, and one secondary school. Northern Lights College provides post-secondary education.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation Type: Fee-for-Service

Estimated Remuneration: $350,000+ Physician Overhead ER work minimal overhead for own billing etc.

Benefits and Incentives:

Vacation Leave Negotiable. May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including:

  • Retention Premium 23.10%
  • Retention Flat Fee $35,798
  • Relocation Funding Available: $9,000 - $15,000 (TBD)
  • Recruitment Incentive $20,000

Other Benefits/Incentives: Rural Emergency Enhancement funding available (REEF) for ER coverage along with Medical On Call Availability Program (MOCAP) funding on top of MSP billings for ER coverage. Rural Education Action Plan (REAP) funding available. Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME) funding available. Moving allowance available: $15,000 if moving from outside of Canada; $12,000 if moving within Canada but outside of BC; $9,000 if moving within BC. Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) funding is subject to change without notice.
