Electrician

Nature & Scope of Position

The majority of this position is related to the assembly, installation, testing, troubleshooting and repair of electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and additional equipment within the facility.

Position Accountabilities

1. Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, CAT 5e, CAT 6 communication devices and other electrical components.
2. Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
3. Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors.
4. Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems.
5. Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices.
6. Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.
7. Troubleshoot and repair all HVAC equipment.
8. Install, repair and troubleshoot as required all Intelligent F/A devices.
9. Model behaviors consistent with good quality, health and safety, and environmental management practices.
10. Schedule and host contractors on-site.

Qualifications

1. Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent.
2. Post-Secondary training/experience in a technical field.
3. Instrumentation courses.
4. Must possess a current Provincial Electrician License.
5. Fall arrest and arc flash training an asset.
6. Operation of lift equipment an asset.
7. Good organizational skills, ability to prioritize duties.

Working Environment

An individual in this capacity must be aware that the position will involve:

1. Physically transporting various supplies/equipment throughout the facility, working in somewhat confined spaces as well as performing duties at heights using a scissor lift or ladders.
2. Must be willing to walk to various areas throughout the facility throughout the day.
3. There will be a requirement to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) on a regular basis.
4. Availability for shift work and occasional overtime will be required.
