WSP is currently seeking an Electrical Team Lead to join our Buildings BC team in our Kelowna or Kamloops office.
This role will oversee establishing and growing a team of engineers and technicians in the interior of BC. This team will design and manage electrical systems for a diverse set of building projects across commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, light industrial, and transportation sectors. The successful candidate will lead project assignments, oversee the execution of work, and provide mentorship to junior staff.

A day in the life:- Work with mechanical and electrical director to establish and grow a team of electrical engineers in the interior of BC.
- Lead and manage a team, ensuring effective collaboration and resource allocation.
- Conduct regular team meetings and foster a positive team environment.
- Work with directors and business development leaders to pursue work in BC primarily focusing on interior BC.
- Design electrical systems for various building types across BC and the Yukon.
- Manage project assignments from proposal to construction, including power distribution, lighting, and security systems.
- Collaborate with a design team to develop electrical designs and prepare project drawings and specifications.
- Communicate with clients, design partners, authorities, and contractors.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes and standards.
- Adhere to project budgets and timelines, maintaining accurate project tracking and billing.
- Review existing systems and prepare condition reports and feasibility studies.
- Prepare load calculations and select systems and equipment.
- Coordinate project drawings using CAD and BIM software.
- Participate in fee proposals and business development activities.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced staff.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:- The drive and passion to build and lead a team.
- 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering consulting for buildings and infrastructure.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead a team to deliver design submissions, often with demanding timelines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD; proficiency with AGI or ETAP is considered an asset.
- Experience in creating tender document packages with drawings and specifications.
- Experience with site reviews of building electrical systems.
- An extensive understanding of building construction and building electrical systems and infrastructure.
- Professional Engineer registration with EGBC is considered an asset.
- A detailed working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, BC Building Code, and the National Building Code of Canada.
Expected Salary (all locations): $105,800 to 145,400
