About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Primary Responsibilities:
- Promote and maintain strict adherence to health, safety, environmental and community relations concerns and regulations.
- Implement and monitor mill maintenance plans and schedules.
- Research and propose new projects for continuous improvement.
- Participate in the preparation of budgets and monitor costing and performance.
- Partner with the Metallurgy team to monitor and continuously improve plant performance.
- Partner with the Operations team to ensure the right preventative and corrective maintenance is conducted at the right time and with the least disruption to production.
- Coordinate and cooperate with other departments to ensure safe production, cost, and other strategic business objectives are met.
- Provide specific training and development opportunities for hourly employees.
- Counsel and coach subordinates concerning performance, employee relations, safety, environmental compliance, productivity and cost control.
- Assign, prioritize and supervise the daily tasks for electrical and instrumentation technicians, ensuring that the predictive and preventative maintenance programs are followed.
- Provide vacation relief for other supervisors.
- Provide technical guidance, support and supervision to maintenance personnel.
- Manage the maintenance backlogs with minimal interruption in the operation of the milling, backfill, refining and crushing plants.
- Ensure accurate maintenance records are maintained on major components and equipment.
- Identify and manage inventory level of critical spare parts.
- Coordinate site visits by specialized contractors.
- Participate in company related training and development initiatives.
- Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.
- Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of mineral processing equipment maintenance experience with 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Expertise in mill and ore processing equipment maintenance with gold processing being a strong asset.
- Solid knowledge of OHS requirements.
- Computer proficiency including computerized maintenance management systems.
- Superior ability to comprehend and interpret technical drawings.
- Extensive knowledge of and experience with a variety of industrial electrical and automated equipment and related control systems.
- Proven track record of successfully leading a team in a maintenance environment.
- Strong commitment to safety, health, risk management, and environmental standards.
Working Conditions:
- The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 7 days on, 7 days off.
