Job Description
We are currently seeking an Electrical Supervisor to join our team of skilled professionals based at our Ashcroft, BC plant. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Electrical Supervisor’s role is to provide leadership and technical assistance to the industrial electrical technicians, electronics technicians and external contractors to work in a safe and productive manner while minimizing unscheduled production downtime and maintenance costs.

When you join us, you will be:
- Provide first-line supervision, technical assistance and training to Maintenance department Electricians
- Understand and reinforce the value of our behavioural based safety program (STOP), and use other tools such as Risk Assessments and Safety Shares to address safety concerns
- Ensure all work performed adheres to all regulations, policies, procedures and work instructions
- Lead the team in troubleshooting of electrical problems and devise solutions for these problems
- Initiate Maximo tasks for the electrical department and ensure existing tasks are completed
- Interface with Production and Engineering on downtime/RCA, shutdown planning, process troubleshooting, preparing and proposing recommendations, process upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives
- Lead a positive change effort to improve performance by motivating, recognizing and inspiring others to be effective and efficient in their activities
- Process Maintenance work orders, purchase requisitions, weekly schedules, PM’s and update the equipment database (CMMS)
- Ensure proper documentation and completion of reports (compliance, checklists, audits, work orders, incident investigations, metrics, confined space, etc.)
- Assist in controlling maintenance costs through managing spare parts
- Evaluate individual employee skill levels and training requirements towards maintaining and improving quality of work and safe work habits
- Participate in hiring and training of personnel
- Develop, review and update maintenance instructions and procedures
- Work closely with Operations and Mechanical Maintenance personnel
- Plan and oversee testing and calibration of electrical and electronic equipment, devices and tools on a scheduled basis
- Review or prepare drawings and specifications for contract work and inspect work performed to determine compliance to standards
- Participate in the development of the capital and maintenance budgets
Our ideal candidate:
- Licensed Electrician with Red Seal Certification required
- Electrical Engineering Degree or Diploma is a plus
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory/leadership experience in a continuous manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of Allen Bradley Drives, Relay Logic, PLC logic controls and Programming
- Working knowledge and experience with CMMS
- Structured problem-solving tools to determine root cause of failures
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and manuals
- Lean Manufacturing experience preferred
- Proficiency with MS Excel, Word and Outlook
- Experience with process safety management and creating a culture where all accidents are preventable
- Highly developed interpersonal, leadership, coaching, mentoring, delegation and people management skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities
- Ability to build morale and influence positive change
- This role is on-call and will periodically require weekend work
