Crestline is seeking a skilled and motivated individual who will lead product design through the creation of innovative, robust, and standardized electrical systems and features. This role is critical in delivering dependable solutions that meet customer needs, reduce complexity, and support manufacturing efficiency across our product line.
You will have the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Sales, Engineering, and Compliance. This role demands a proactive mindset with a strong understanding of electrical systems, embedded software programming, and engineering analysis to help shape the future of our specialty vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
As the Electrical Engineering Designer, you will:
- Develop and maintain electrical designs, schematics, wire harnesses, and BOMs to meet Crestline, customer, and regulatory standards.
- Design and program 12 VDC and 120/240 VAC systems, including embedded systems for vehicle control.
- Create standard components and reusable electrical systems to improve efficiency and reduce design lead time.
- Guide and review the work of CAD/CAM Designers and offshore partners, conducting peer reviews and driving quality across designs.
- Apply engineering analysis to minimize risk and ensure design reliability, including load calculations, thermal protection, and wire selection.
- Review contracts for clarity and contribute to quoting and design timeline accuracy.
- Gather and integrate feedback from Production and customers to improve product design and manufacturability.
- Support cross-functional design, sales, and production meetings.
- Identify and implement high-ROI improvements using Lean thinking, improving both product value and manufacturing efficiency.
- Support Compliance Engineering for vehicle certification and testing.
- Assist with troubleshooting quality issues and providing production support.
QualificationsAs the Electrical Engineering Designer, you will have:
- A degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering (preferred), or equivalent in a related engineering discipline.
- 3–5 years of experience in electrical design, embedded programming, and systems integration.
- Knowledge of 12VDC and 120/240VAC systems, automotive/specialty vehicle electronics, and CAN bus systems.
- Proficiency in ECAD tools (Zuken E3, EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical), and familiarity with 2D/3D cable drafting.
- Experience with PDM/PLM systems and awareness of relevant standards (CMVSS, FMVSS, CAAS, Canadian Electrical Code).
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail and a focus on high-quality outcomes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing environments is considered an asset.
