Position: Electrical Engineer, Technologist, or Designer (Junior to Intermediate)
Location: Lloydminster, Alberta
Education: B.Sc. Engineering (E.I.T/P.Eng.); or
Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma (T.T./C.E.T./P.Tech); or
Journeyman Electrician (RSE)
Duties/Responsibilities:
We are currently seeking junior to intermediate electrical engineers, technologists, and designers with a minimum 2+ years of office-based oil and gas engineering, design and drafting experience.
- Requires an elemental knowledge of oil and gas electrical systems including low and medium voltage power distribution, PLC and DCS control systems, equipment layout and control panel designs, hazardous area classification, cable sizing, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams etc.
- Willing to attend and discuss findings in meetings with the client and other engineering disciplines.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD is essential.
- Must be well versed with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.).
- Previous experience with power system modeling software (ETAP) would be an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Access, MS Projects or Primavera would be beneficial.
- A valid driver’s license is required as some local travel and field work will be required.
- Excellent organizational and management skills;inter-personal, written & verbal communication skills are a necessity.
- The position will involve electrical drafting, design, project management, procurement, quality assurance and control, and other related responsibilities.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Candidates must be registered with a Canadian professional engineering, or engineering technologist association, or as a registered Journeyman electrician, red seal endorsed.
- Engineering design, project management experience with Commercial and/or Oil and Gas facilities, and PMP accreditation are all considered assets.
- Experience in the Oil & Gas Industry is essential.
- A working knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., API, CEC, NEC, NFPA, etc.).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with team members and external clients.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite. Experience with MS Projects and Visio considered an asset.
- Work experience with AutoCAD and structural engineering analysis software such as S-FRAME, STAAD Pro, Tekla, IDEA StatiCa and/or MathCAD is an asset but not required.
- Experience preparing and reviewing key engineering drawings.
- Ability to perform effectively as an individual or in a team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
