Our forward-thinking client is continuing to expand their technical team with an Electrical Engineer and/or Electrical Engineering Technician. This role is critical to the company’s continued success, offering an exciting opportunity for career growth and development within a dynamic team.
Supporting a growing team and business, this role will support with design, project and construction management services to the Light Rail Transit (LRT), Rail Systems, Utility and Industrial industries within Calgary, Edmonton, and across North America.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Project Support & Execution: Assist in the design, development, and execution of power systems engineering projects, including fieldwork, testing, and commissioning activities.
- System Analysis & Troubleshooting: Perform load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, and protection studies, and assist in troubleshooting power systems to identify issues and recommend improvements.
- Power Quality & Compliance: Monitor power quality, identify sources of harmonic distortion, voltage fluctuations, and disturbances, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Protection & Coordination Support: Assist in the development of protection and coordination schemes for electrical systems, ensuring system reliability and safety.
- Client & Technical Support: Provide technical support to clients, participate in meetings, and assist in addressing client inquiries, ensuring projects meet client requirements.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare technical reports, documentation, and project updates, ensuring all records meet industry standards and company requirements.
- Team Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Work closely with senior engineers and technicians, supporting project tasks, sharing knowledge, and contributing to the professional development of junior team members.
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Alberta and British Columbia.
- Eligible for APEGA membership.
Qualifications:
- Valid Class 5 drivers license and passport for occasional travel.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Electrical Engineer or Electrical Engineering Technician roles.
- Previous field experience in industrial and electrical utility environments.
Skills:
- Communication & Team Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a team and communicate technical information clearly.
- Organizational Skills & Prioritization: Highly organized, capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines efficiently.
- Project Support & Execution: Experience in supporting engineering projects, ensuring successful completion through effective planning and execution.
- Technical Oversight & System Understanding: Proficient in overseeing project tasks, from design to construction, ensuring compliance with technical standards and quality.
- Innovation & Initiative: Self-motivated with a focus on developing creative, industry-leading solutions while continuously improving processes and practices.
- Analytical Thinking & Troubleshooting: Strong problem-solving abilities, with a focus on diagnosing issues and making effective, data-driven decisions.
Base Salary: $80,000-$120,000+ per year
- Salary based on experience and credentials
- Full benefits package and bonus structure
Work Hours:
- 40 hours per week
- Monday – Friday
