Position: Intermediate Electrical Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Intermediate Electrical Engineer with a strong background in heavy industrial projects to join our dynamic team based in Toronto. As an Intermediate Electrical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical systems for heavy industrial facilities. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, architects, and other engineers, to ensure the successful execution of projects within budget and schedule constraints.
Your Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electrical systems for heavy industrial projects, adhering to industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Develop electrical system layouts, single-line diagrams, and detailed schematics using computer-aided design (CAD) software in collaboration with designers.
- Perform load calculations, voltage drop analysis, and short circuit studies to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
- Select and specify electrical equipment, such as transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, and instrumentation, considering project requirements and technical specifications.
- Prepare technical specifications, scope of work documents, and cost estimates for electrical equipment procurement and installation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems with other disciplines, such as mechanical, civil, and structural engineering.
- Conduct field inspections and assessments to verify compliance with design specifications and resolve any technical issues that may arise during construction or installation.
- Assist in the commissioning and startup of electrical systems, ensuring proper functioning and troubleshooting any operational problems.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and applicable electrical codes and standards.
- Assist with proposal works including man-hours estimate, scope of work, execution methodology, and others.
Our Essentials:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in heavy industrial electrical engineering, including power distribution, motor control, lighting, and instrumentation.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), and other relevant industry standards.
- Knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) software for electrical system design.
- Experience in conducting load calculations, voltage drop analysis, and short circuit studies using engineering software.
- Familiarity with electrical equipment selection, specification, and procurement processes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in complex engineering situations.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical concepts and information.
