Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching and support for all site leadership employees to raise environmental and health & safety awareness.
  • Implement and administer company environmental/safety programs and policies.
  • Conduct periodic site inspections, investigate environmental and safety concerns and complete EHS audits for all sites.
  • Review site specific EHS requirements and attend on-site health and safety meetings as required for all sites.
  • Support Joint Health & Safety Committee.
  • Perform incident investigations, lead root cause assessments and recommend and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain EHS records and documents and track EHS statistical performance.
  • Ensure compliance with OHSA and all other relevant EHS related legislation and regulations.
  • Support administration of all WSIB related claims.
  • Support management and employees to develop and implement appropriate return to work and modified work programs.
  • Provide internal safety training and periodical safety talks.
  • Conduct all EHS awareness orientation for all new full time & part time salaried employees.
  • Perform other job related tasks & duties as required.

Education and Experience

  • Post-Secondary education in an EHS related field or comparable work experience.
  • Current enrolment in a health & safety certificate program.
  • Minimum, 1 year of relevant experience preferably in a chemical production or manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of current safety legislation and WHMIS 2015/GHS.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work outside of core hours where required.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize according to workload.
  • Well developed facilitation and training skills.
  • Calm, diplomatic, and pleasant demeanor.
  • Collaborative and team focused leadership style.
