POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning and Analysis, this role will be key in helping The Globe carry out its annual strategic plan. The Financial Analyst will support monthly revenue and expense forecasts, annual budget, variance analysis, and other projects requested by senior management. The successful candidate will provide insights to support optimal business decision making.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Planning & Analysis

  1. Assist in the development of the annual budget, monthly and quarterly forecasts and monitor results versus budget and forecast working with business partners to complete this process.
  2. Work closely with business partners to determine root causes of financial performance and maintain focus on identifying ways to improve the short and long term financial outlook.
  3. Participate in month end close through pre month-end close review of department GL entries and accruals.
  4. Develop financial models that are responsive to the changing business and that track key metrics relevant to various stakeholders (i.e. executive, working team etc.).

Decision Support/Other

  1. Prepare management reporting for client groups and participate in monthly finance review meetings highlighting key business trends and variances.
  2. Develop a deep understanding of major performance drivers and assist business decision makers in the development of action plans to meet financial goals and mitigate risks.
  3. Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes.
  4. Prepare weekly, monthly reporting and enhance the existing KPI reporting and analytical tools to increase efficiency and uncover more insight into business operations.
  5. Conduct ad hoc financial modeling and provide recommendations to support the business units in making financially sound business decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field.
  2. Working towards CPA, MBA and/or CFA an asset.
  3. 2+ years of finance and/or accounting experience with progressive responsibility in Financial Planning and Analysis.
  4. Analytical thinker who can take detailed/complex information and convert to meaningful business insights, recommendations and actionable next steps.
  5. Good business judgment with an ability to challenge plans and assumptions and take an independent stance when appropriate.
  6. Professional communication and presentation skills with an ability to partner with cross-functional groups and various management levels.
  7. Advanced financial modelling (proven experience building financial models), Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  8. Knowledge of SAP (ideal) and CPM management reporting tools (OneStream, TM1, Hyperion, BPC).
