Job description

Our client, a financial institution, is looking to hire a Derivatives Analyst II to their team for an initial 12-month contract with a possibility of extension/conversion. This role is currently hybrid in Toronto.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Conduct Onboarding Functions: Manage and execute the onboarding process for new accounts and brokers involved in derivatives trading, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Operational Readiness Management: Oversee the derivatives trading operational readiness within the Global Derivatives Services team, collaborating with middle office, operations, and collateral management teams to facilitate efficient trading operations.
  • Legal Coordination: Liaise with Legal Services to ensure all necessary legal agreements, such as Clearing Agreements and ISDA/CSAs, are properly established and maintained to support derivatives trading activities.
  • Documentation Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all account, broker onboarding, and legal documentation related to derivatives trading, including the development of dashboards to monitor onboarding status.
  • Broker Relationship Management: Foster and manage positive relationships with external brokers to ensure effective communication and operational collaboration, contributing to the overall success of the derivatives trading strategy.
  • Process Improvement and Compliance: Continuously evaluate and identify opportunities for process improvements, contributing to the harmonization of onboarding practices with the Asia Derivatives Services team and mitigating financial and operational risks.

Must Have Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of meaningful industry experience with at least 1 year of hands-on experience in derivative products.
  • Familiarity with derivative instruments such as repos, TBAs, futures, listed and OTC options, FX, Swaptions, OTC swaps, and centrally cleared swaps.
  • Familiarity with derivatives trading and collateral agreements such as Clearing Agreements, Give-Ups, ISDA/CSAs, GMRAs, and MSFTAs.
  • Familiarity with MS Office suite.
  • Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to readily adapt to rapidly changing environments and deal with competing priorities.
  • Teammate with demonstrated experience building and maintaining good working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to think through problems, assess a variety of factors, and recommend solutions.
  • Familiarity with various fund structures: mutual funds, pooled funds, private funds, UCITS, institutional accounts, and life insurance general account.

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience in the Insurance Company and Asset Manager sectors will be considered an asset.
