Your Opportunity

Our Ottawa, Markham & Waterloo offices have an opportunity for a Survey Assistant within our Geospatial Group.

Please note that this is a temporary position and is anticipated to be completed at the end of August 2025.

Your Key Responsibilities

1. Perform topographic surveys using GNSS (GPS), electronic total station, and conventional survey equipment.
2. Assist a crew chief in providing survey for cadastral, engineering, and bathymetric projects.
3. Assist in transferring survey data to the proper folder locations.
4. Communicate effectively with members of the team and follow standard procedures.
5. Responsible for safe operation of tools and equipment.
6. Assist in taking care of Company vehicle and Company issued survey equipment.
7. Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

1. Ability to work well in a team environment.
2. Possess technical and mathematical skills along with the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions.
3. Valid driver's license and a good driving record (will be required to arrange transportation to the work site).
4. Ability to work flexible hours including weekends.
5. Safety footwear & appropriate clothing is a requirement. Stantec will provide safety vests, hard hats & additional safety equipment as required.

Education and Experience

1. Previous experience is not required. However, experience in land surveying or post-secondary education in a Geomatics or Civil program would be considered significant assets.
2. Basic knowledge of CAD standards and familiarity with Trimble survey equipment would also be beneficial.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
