Location: Remote Employee Canada, ON, CA

About this Opportunity

The Automation Support Intern will support the Global Automation Team in supporting factory automation programs across multiple countries. In this role you will report to an Automation Engineer and/or Project Manager and support such activities as: process flow creation, work breakdown structure, process development, supporting the project manager and/or site engineers as required.

Preferred Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Google SmartSheets, Miro.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interface directly with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Corporate teams and internal Management.
  • Well organized, good time management skills, detail-oriented and a self-starter.
  • Ability to follow-through on deliverables and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  • Previous exposure to a manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
  • Strong technical writing abilities with experience constructing technical requirements and specifications.

Activities

  • Creation of documentation to support a major automation project (in excess of $20M).
  • Supporting the day-to-day activities of PMO Project Manager/Automation Engineer - attending internal calls, internal meetings and, recording and following up on meeting action items.
  • Working with internal cross functional teams (Automation, Engineering, Process, Quality, and others).
  • Compiles, reviews, and analyzes data.
  • Detailed tracking of test validation records, requirement compliance and traceability.

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements are frequently required (e.g. data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.).

Experience: No formal experience is required

Education: Currently enrolled in University/College internship program, completing 3rd year in a 4-year program of a Mechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics, or Aerospace Engineering.
