The Opportunity
We’re looking to fill an HR Generalist position at RFA Bank of Canada!
Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, the HR Generalist provides a full range of Human Resources support to RFA’s managers, supervisors, and employees. They will act as clients’ first point of contact and work collaboratively to ensure optimal employee relations management in alignment with corporate goals, objectives, policies, applicable legislation, and best practices. The HR Generalist will also be responsible for, but not limited to, recruitment, administering HR programs, and ensuring up-to-date reporting and tracking of all HR data.
Core Responsibilities
As the HR Generalist, you will:
Employee Relations:
- Develop and maintain effective partnerships with RFA leaders and management team.
- Provide proactive HR guidance, direction, and support on a full range of HR services, including performance management, disciplines, termination, and application of policies and procedures.
- Conduct timely and thorough investigation, including participating in fact-finding meetings, preparing interview questionnaires, preparing reports, and presenting a summary of findings.
- Maintain working knowledge of employment and labour legislation, best practices trends, etc.
- Coordinate responses to risks, compliance issues, internal audits, regulatory reviews, or third-party evaluations on behalf of management.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance across HR Operations.
- Promote best practices and standards within the HR department, ensuring we consistently meet and exceed regulatory and internal audit requirements.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging best practices, bringing innovative solutions to HR processes and controls.
- Manage and report on operational risk in HR including payroll and compensation operations, internal and external reporting, and regulatory reporting.
- Implement and document HR internal controls, enhancing control descriptions, identifying control weaknesses, and assisting in the remediation of deficiencies.
- Perform testing on key controls and deliver timely reporting on Key Risk Indicators (KRI) and Operational Risk Events (ORE) to help ensure an effective and efficient internal control environment within HR.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Set up and maintain employee data in the HR database.
- Maintain human resources records by managing and maintaining: The Careers website; onboarding and offboarding procedures; changes in roles and job classifications; compensation and benefits administration; policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Prepare HR reports and presentations, as required.
- Manage leave and sickness absence records and advise employees on entitlements.
- Oversee probationary periods, liaising with managers and sending reminders, as required.
- Comply with federal and provincial legal requirements by remaining educated on the Employment Standards Act; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions.
- Deliver other projects, as assigned, to support the HR team in providing first-class HR service to the business.
- Provide finance with monthly reports in relation to benefits and employee costs.
General Human Resource Support:
- Conduct talent acquisition activities, including job posting creation, screening resumes, scheduling interviews on behalf of hiring manager, assessing candidates, and negotiating employment terms.
- Provide guidance and counsel to hiring managers throughout the hiring process.
- Support the Business with any special projects that are needed in the HR function.
- Other HR tasks as required.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years related experience in an HR Generalist capacity for Federally-regulated and Provincially-regulated organizations.
- Solid knowledge of Canadian Labour laws, regulations, and employment standards.
- In-depth knowledge of HR principles and best practices.
- CHRP designation is an asset.
