Asset Care (Maintenance) Manager

Diageo Amherstburg is one of Diageo's key manufacturing facilities in North America, playing a crucial role in the production and packaging of the Crown Royal brand.

The Asset Care (Maintenance) Manager will support operations at the Amherstburg site. The position provides essential managerial leadership in the areas of Safety, Plant Maintenance, Asset Performance, Manufacturing Excellence, CAPEX Budgeting, Planning, and Project Management. The position requires a strong knowledge of fast-paced packaging equipment. The Asset Care (Maintenance) Manager will need to be able to set up a 5-year asset care and replacement strategy, including a capital expenditure program. Strong leadership and communication abilities are critical for this role. The incumbent should be capable of innovative thinking and driven to maintain momentum while maintaining a balanced industrial climate. Must be able to prioritize and balance multiple projects, tasks, and interpersonal needs in a multifaceted environment. The ideal candidate must be able to work across multiple functions.

Specifically:

  • Provide guidance in process, design, and engineering required for the proper planning, budgeting, design, and implementation of projects.
  • Implement process enhancements to improve processes and efficiency.
  • Assure equipment reliability to increase production line productivity measured through Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE).
  • Track standard manufacturing and warehouse measures and prioritize plant maintenance opportunities.
  • Apply visual factory concepts to improve asset utilization and plant performance.
  • Direct and build the capability of Team Leads and Tradespersons.
  • Assume a key role in Governance e.g., observing and acting on Diageo’s CoBC.
  • Decide type and extent of plant engineering and related programs for accomplishing strategies and objectives for Amherstburg.

This role has Functional and Managerial responsibility to:

  • Create and oversee Plant Capex (Capital Expenditures), Departmental and Maintenance budgets. Ensure the right fiscal controls are in place and observed.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and control in all areas.
  • Meet or exceed the annual plan for budget and critical metrics, which includes proposing cost-saving proposals and project summaries, including alternatives and recommendations.
  • Prepare bid packages, scope of work, equipment specifications, etc.
  • Oversee direct and/or indirect reports and outside contractors. Establish and lead project teams.
  • Provide engineering and technical expertise to achieve the lowest cost while providing high-quality products and customer service levels.
  • Identify, implement, and promote technology to improve safety, quality, efficiencies, productivity, and reduce costs.
  • Develop Diageo culture, principles, and values. Energize, Engage & Develop People.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 8 years of technical/Production/Engineering/Maintenance Management in consumer products/goods or manufacturing. Preferred experience in Packaging.
  • Shown success performing as a manager in a production organization.
  • Consistent record in running multiple projects technically and financially.

  • Able to set objectives, define roles, assign tasks, and motivate to success.
  • Exhibits outstanding team building and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence, persuade, convince, compromise, and build consensus.
  • Able to resolve conflict.

Technical Competence:

  • In-depth knowledge of project management, technical operations, and engineering.
  • Engineering Degree: BSME, BSEE, BS ChE preferred.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • SAP Knowledge highly preferred.

Salary Range:

Minimum Salary: $92,250

Maximum Salary: $153,750
