Introduction
The Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) Fiscal Management and Capital Planning is responsible for developing, supporting and monitoring fiscal strategies for both core government operations and the broader government reporting entities. The ADM and her/his teams develop and coordinate an effective budget and planning cycle within an overall fiscal framework as well as reliable fiscal forecasting, monitoring and reporting mechanisms. The ADM plans the long-term sustainability of the government’s overall “bottom line” - core government operations of $9.3 billion and the operations of the Government Reporting Entity of $11.8 billion. The ultimate deliverables the ADM is responsible for are preparation of the Annual Budget and long-term fiscal plans as well as multi-year capital budgeting and review.

The ADM will demonstrate strong corporate leadership and support for a public service that embraces challenges and places innovation at the centre of its work to improve outcomes. As a member of the department’s executive management team, the ADM will establish and support a culture and environment of innovation, accountability and outcomes. The ADM will ensure the development of tools, streamlined processes, and the human resource capability and capacity to effectively assess complex and multiple factors affecting the fiscal position of government, develop supported strategies and present options for government consideration. The ADM will balance and rationalize the requirements for fiscal restraint and the potential benefits of program and economic renewal.
