Reporting to: Supervisor of Aquatics and Recreation Programs

Department: Aquatics

Classification: Summer Student; Unionized

Salary Range: $23.50/hour as per Schedule “B”

Starting Date: May 5, 2025

Job Summary

This position plays an integral role in helping people stay fit and have fun by ensuring the safe operation of our pools and seasonal facilities. You will help to ensure the daily opening and closing of our seasonal aquatic facilities runs smoothly, watch for operational and maintenance issues, and maintain water chemistry in line with applicable guidelines and standards.

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for assisting with the opening and closing of all seasonal facilities.
  2. Responsible for dealing with any mechanical or chemical issues or concerns.
  3. Daily cleaning of aquatic facilities (pool deck, pool basin, cleaning equipment).
  4. Maintain provincial public pool guidelines, Lifesaving society Standards and City of Woodstock Policies and Procedures.
  5. Ability to respond and diagnose any facility maintenance concerns.
  6. Responsible for moving equipment and supplies for the Aquatic and Recreation departments.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of attending high school and must be returning to school in the fall
  • Must have Pool Operators certification
  • Must have Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certification
  • Must have a valid Class “G2” Driver’s License
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions and be physically able to perform duties
  • National Lifeguard certification is an asset

Working Conditions

  • Scheduled 32 to 40-hour work week which will include weekends and alternate shift hours.
  • Will be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • May be required to work overtime.
