Job description

The Direct Funding (DF) Regional Report Coordinator assists the DF Report Reviewer and Resource Coordinator in the administration of the Independent Living Waterloo Region (ILWR) Direct Funding program. The Regional Report Coordinator will also support the ILWR Independent Living Resource team as needed.

Direct Funding is an innovative program enabling adults with physical disabilities to become employers of their own attendants, responsible for managing their own staff within a budget that is developed on an individual basis. The DF Regional Report Coordinator has administrative oversight of these individual budgets.

Reporting to the Manager of Independent Living Resources at ILWR, the DF Regional Report Coordinator will work both independently and interdependently as a part of the Direct Funding team to help support program participants with their quarterly reports, budgets, and financial reports.

Responsibilities

Activity A: Self-manager Payment Authorization

  1. Using Microsoft Access to confirm monthly deposits for each Self-Manager reporting to the Waterloo Administration office.
  2. Work with program representatives to finalize requests for temporary increases or decreases to monthly deposits.
  3. Work with the Centre for Independent Living in Toronto Inc (CILT) to release additional funding or withhold funding to Self-Managers and prepare bi-monthly deposits to program participants.
  4. Work with the provincial database to manage and maintain files.
  5. Communicate via email, telephone, or mail with program participants and their bookkeepers.
  6. Assist the Report Reviewer and Resource Coordinator with various tasks as needed.

Activity B: Liaison with CILT

  1. Report to the CILT Leadership Team to ensure compliance with the terms of the Direct Funding Agreement.
  2. Assist CILT when required, including eligibility interviews of program prospects.
  3. Provide CILT with files to be audited as requested.

Activity C: Administrative

  1. Comply with relevant legislation and policies/procedures of both CILT and ILWR.
  2. Ensure all reports are reviewed correctly by the Report Reviewer.
  3. Compile statistics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for both CILT and ILWR.
  4. Act as a backup as necessary to the Report Reviewer.
  5. Attendance to meetings, training, and development as required.
  6. Any other duties as may be described.

Positions Directly Supervised:

No direct supervision.

Qualifications

  1. Expert knowledge of bookkeeping and record-keeping.
  2. Ability to review and remediate financial reports.
  3. Understanding of barriers and challenges faced by individuals who experience disability.
  4. Post-secondary education in a related field and/or experience in bookkeeping and/or financial reports.
  5. Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal with the public in a courteous manner.
  6. Open and non-judgmental approach at all times.
  7. Ability to function as a team member in a collaborative environment.
  8. Ability to handle multiple requests and deadlines.
  9. Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  10. Fast-paced environment with multiple demands.
  11. Ability to remain calm under pressure and to be adaptable/flexible.
  12. Office Environment (i.e. computer, monitor, printer, phone).
  13. Work location is hybrid/remote work with occasional meetings at the ILWR Administrative office in Kitchener, ON.
