Job Description:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
CUSTOMER
- Lead the overall team and ensure knowledge and capabilities are effectively managed to support medium to longer term business needs.
- Lead the communication, interpretation, application, and implementation of results for actuarial analysis.
- Direct, plan and oversee resources within allocated actuarial function(s) to fulfil departmental responsibilities.
- Provide leadership and professional development to Actuarial staff to ensure a knowledgeable and highly motivated team.
- Communicate complex actuarial concepts in clear, easy to understand terminology to promote impacts / ramifications to senior leadership and risk management.
- Monitor competitiveness and market intelligence to adapt strategies.
- Manage the development and evolution of telematics pricing data, reports and models.
SHAREHOLDER
- Work closely with key business leaders to develop business plan, ensuring the optimal use of resources and leverage TD's operating model to maximize efficiency, effectiveness and scale.
- Challenge business appropriately ensuring best interest of the organization is considered.
- Negotiate with external regulators to implement proposed rating programs successfully.
- Manage overall budget, revenue and expenditures, meet business objectives while increasing efficiency and effectiveness.
- Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk transactions / activities as necessary.
- Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts.
- Oversee or lead the facilitation and/or implementation of action / remediation plans to address performance / risk / governance issues.
- Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite.
- Ensure employees are knowledgeable; and assume responsibility to minimize operational and regulatory risk by complying with Bank and industry Code of Conduct.

- Act as a brand ambassador for your business area/function and the bank, both internally and/or externally.
BREADTH & DEPTH
- Oversee and lead a highly complex and diverse reporting function for an area of significant risk, complexity or scope while growing talent, developing skills and capabilities to achieve career goals, support project / initiative success and achieve business results.
- Provides coaching, mentorship and guidance to the team within domain area of expertise.
- Manages and oversees the overall discipline and strategy for the respective areas while aligning to the enterprise best practices.
- Strategic partner to leadership team on the management of the portfolio and financials, with deep industry, external / internal, enterprise knowledge, recognizing and anticipating emerging trends and; identifying operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management / enterprise areas.
- Focus on longer-range planning for functional area.
- Generally reports to functional / business executive or the Chief Actuary.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- University degree.
- 10+ years of related experience, including 3 to 5 years people management experience.
- Generally a fully qualified Fellow.
