Job description

As Senior Advisor, ESG Risk, you recommend strategies and priorities to implement industry best practices for oversight and disclosure of ESG risks. You help train, analyze, research, develop and roll out governance documents, optimize the 3 lines of defence and oversee ESG risks. You lead and influence practitioners on development projects and highly innovative, complex strategic initiatives involving multiple sectors. Your initiatives require extensive, in-depth knowledge of ESG risk management.

More specifically, you will be required to:

  1. Conduct initiatives related to the integration of ESG factors into risk management practices at Desjardins, including quality assurance and timely delivery.
  2. Help develop and update policies, directives, methodologies, risk indicators and training to support your unit's strategic projects and initiatives.
  3. Advise, assist and collaborate with your partners from the various Desjardins Group components to help them position, plan, develop, execute and monitor strategic projects and initiatives under your responsibility.
  4. Help monitor ESG-related risks, particularly as they relate to industry best practices, regulatory requirements, frameworks and disclosure standards, and recommend responses.
  5. Serve as an advisor and subject matter expert for Desjardins's ESG program.
  6. Represent your department on relevant committees and decision-making bodies, including preparing related materials.

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of eight years of relevant experience.
  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Experience in ESG risk management.
  • Experience working in Agile mode.
  • Knowledge of French is required.
  • Advanced proficiency of English, both oral and written due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients.
  • Knowledge of the ESG risk management framework.
  • Ambiguity, Communicates effectively, Interpersonal Savvy, Strategic mindset.
